UDA English Center: Transversalidad de la formación en idioma inglés en la Universidad de Atacama

UDA English Center (UEC), bajo la dirección de la académica Mag. Pilar Franco Torrejón, conjuntamente con el equipo docente dan inicio al 2° semestre académico 2022.  UDA English Center transversaliza la enseñanza-aprendizaje del idioma inglés en las carreras de la Universidad de Atacama. El equipo UEC se alegra y se siente muy motivado dando la bienvenida a sus estudiantes en este nuevo inicio de actividades,  y les invita a “vivir el inglés”.

UDA English Center espera atender un número aproximado de 1300 estudiantes pertenecientes a las seis Facultades y a 17 carreras profesionales UDA que cursaran inglés durante el 2° semestre 2022, y a la vez articula la atención de estudiantes de la Facultad Tecnológica en Copiapó con la Sede Vallenar para el desarrollo del idioma inglés en las 10 carreras técnicas de la sede.

Importante mencionar que la “Capacidad de comunicación en un segundo idioma” es una competencia sello de nuestra casa de estudios, que ofrece al titulado una destreza adicional en su proceso formativo, capacitándolo para formar parte del mundo globalizado actual. Al momento de Titularse los estudiantes UDA tendrán en su poder un Certificado que acredita el nivel de dominio de la competencia comunicativa en idioma Inglés.

Por primera vez este año, y un hito importante logrado por UEC ha  sido la adquisición de un número importante de pruebas estandarizadas de nivel internacional – Oxford Placement Test. A través de esta prueba los estudiantes que finalizaron su proceso formativo en idioma inglés en UDA English Center tendrán la oportunidad de contar con una mayor opción para proseguir estudios de postgrado, mayores opciones en el ámbito laboral y personal. Según Frank Smith “One  language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way” (Una lengua te pone en el corredor de la vida. Dos lenguas abren todas las puertas en el camino”. Esta es la visión de UEC UDA, del significado del hablar más de un idioma, y invitando a unirse a la comunidad UDA English Center y a vivir el Inglés en la Universidad de Atacama.
