Revelan que padrastro exconvicto de Ámbar Cornejo la mató y enterró en su casa

Los restos de la jovencita fueron localizados el jueves en la mañana, luego que la mamá confesará que su marido la asesinó. El cadáver fue hallado en la residencia de Hugo Bustamante, quien pagó condena por estrangular y sepultar a su expareja y el hijo de ella.

(Por Frenny Kelly Granado) Luego de que la mañana de este jueves los restos de Ámbar Cornejo, joven desaparecida desde el 29 de julio, fueran desenterrados de la casa de Hugo Bustamante, su padrastro, él y la madre de la adolescente fueron detenidos por funcionarios de la Policía de Investigaciones (PDI).

El arresto ocurrió en horas de la tarde de ayer, luego que la mujer confesara que había sido su pareja quien mató a su hija y además, entregara información sobre la ubicación del cuerpo, según informó la fiscal, María José Bowen.

Sí bien la mamá de la muchacha de 16 años fue retenida en calidad de testigo, tendrá que rendir cuentas sobre los motivos por los cuales no había dicho antes que su marido había causado la muerte de la menor. Mientras tanto Hugo Bustamante, sí fue arrestado por su presunta autoría en el homicidio.

El sitio donde estaba el cadáver de la jovencita ya había sido rastreado por los peritos, pero dada la profundidad en la que había sido enterrado, dificultó su localización. Ni la brigada canina pudo seguir la pista, de acuerdo con lo que argumentó la investigadora.

Los hechos

Al parecer, el día del crimen Ámbar acudió a la casa de Hugo Bustamente, donde vivía su mamá, pero en el sitio se llevaba a cabo una discusión que conllevó a que su madre se retirara. Supuestamente en ese lapso de tiempo el imputado la habría asesinado. Esa versión será corroborada durante el curso de la investigación.

En 2005 un hecho similar produjo de detención y condena de este sujeto cuando mató a su hijastro y a Verónica, su pareja. Los estranguló, los golpeó brutalmente y luego los metió a un tambor de 200 litros de capacidad. Días después los enterró en el patio de una casa que había arrendado en Villa Alemana, región de Valparaíso, con el mismo dinero que le había robado a la mujer.

Pero en 2016 fue excarcelado cuando la jueza presidenta de la Comisión de Libertad Condicional, Silvana Donoso, le otorgó la libertad tras cumplir 11 de condena y pese al informe de Gendarmería.

La decisión, igual que ahora, causó conmoción en la ciudadanía. En este caso los habitantes de Villa Alemana salieron a protestar masivamente y el Servicio Nacional de Menores (Sename) se querelló; a esta acción legal se sumó el Gobierno, según dijo la ministra Karla Rubilar.

La ministra de la Mujer, Mónica Zalaquett, dijo que espera que se llegue al fondo de este caso y que la justicia aplique las máximas penas a quienes corresponda y la defensora de la Niñez, Patricia Muñoz, lamentó que «una vez más el sistema ha sido incapaz de proteger a una niña de nuestro país». Además amplió la querella criminal que ya había presentado por su desaparición.
