Restaurarán templo presbiteriano de Chañaral

Durante años, una buena parte de la comunidad chañaralina ha deseado y solicitado que se mejoren las instalaciones del Templo Presbiteriano de Chañaral, y todo apunta a que estos anhelos se verán cumplidos, ya que se aprobó el diseño para la restauración de este importante lugar de la comuna.
La postulación para este proyecto, realizada al Fondo del Patrimonio Cultural, perteneciente al Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio, fue realizada por el municipio local que encabeza el Alcalde Raúl Salas Aguilera, a través del departamento de Secretaría de Planificación Comunal (SECPLAC), con el trabajo asociado del arquitecto Rodrigo Vidal Rojas, quien cuenta con una vasta trayectoria en este ámbito.
Cabe destacar que el apoyo de la comunidad para este proyecto ha sido irrestricto, ya que distintas organizaciones comunales firmaron cartas de apoyo para estas gestiones, dejando claro el anhelo de los chañaralinos por recuperar este representativo espacio.
El Templo Presbiteriano de Chañaral es una de las construcciones más antiguas de la comuna. Fue desarrollado por la colonia inglesa vinculada a la industria minera entre los años 1870 y 1878. En un principio fue utilizado por grupos pertenecientes a la religión Anglicana, quienes posteriormente cedieron la infraestructura a la Iglesia Evangélica Presbiteriana.
