El ministro de Salud, Enrique Paris, se refirió este martes al compromiso que deben tener locatarios y ciudadanos por obedecer las medidas sanitarias en las comunas que pasaron de cuarentena a transición para evitar aglomeraciones como las que se registraron el lunes en Estación Central y Santiago, de la Región Metropolitana.
El aumento de la circulación en las calles sin respeto por las indicaciones de distanciamiento social, entre otras, preocupó a las autoridades, quienes analizan la posibilidad de cerrar los comercios si no se cumplen las medidas. De hecho, horas después de que iniciara el desconfinamiento, un mall chino sufrió la consecuencia de estas acciones.
“Yo creo que los comerciantes también deben cooperar”, dijo el ministro y sobre lo que ocurrió en Santiago, “es una lección que tenemos que sacar, nos vamos a tener que poner más estrictos y a lo mejor no abrir todavía los centros comerciales de ese tipo, masivos, los malls o los pequeños mall”, añadió.
En esta misma línea, sobre la posibilidad de que algunas comunas pasen a la tercera fase del plan Paso a Paso, o que más comunas entren en transición, dijo que considera que es “muy pronto”, tomando en cuenta lo que pasó en Santiago. “No queremos dar ese paso hasta que tengamos una evaluación de las comunas que pasaron a esta etapa”, sostuvo. Dec 10 (Reuters) – Wall Street’s main indexes were on track for a mixed open on Tuesday as investors were cautious
ahead of a key inflation report this week that could influence the Federal
Reserve’s upcoming interest rate verdict.
A November reading of the consumer price index (CPI), due on Wednesday,
is among the last major datasets ahead of the Fed’s Dec.
17-18 meeting. Headline inflation is expected to have risen slightly last month.
Trader bets on the Fed delivering another 25 basis point interest rate cut next week stand at over
86%, according to CME’s FedWatch Tool. Bets had jumped after Friday’s employment report that showed a
surge in job growth but also marked an uptick in unemployment.
However, bets indicate the central bank is expected to pause its easing cycle in January, as a host of Fed officials last week
hinted at a slower pace of monetary policy easing on the back
of a resilient economy.
«I’m pretty in line with consensus in terms of what to expect at the FOMC meeting this month … there’s an expectation that CPI will be consistent with the last couple of months which means that inflation is generally heading back towards target but with some bumps along the way,» said John Belton, portfolio manager at Gabelli Funds.
At 8:32 a.m. ET, Dow E-minis were down 106 points,
or 0.24%, S&P 500 E-minis were up 0.5 points, or 0.01% and
Nasdaq 100 E-minis were up 27.5 points,
or 0.13%.
Wall Street’s main indexes closed lower on Monday, pressured by technology stocks whose declines were led by
Nvidia after the Chinese market regulator launched an antitrust probe into the AI chip giant.
Its shares were flat in premarket trading on Tuesday.
U.S. equities started their year-end journey on a broadly positive note, with the benchmark S&P 500 and
the tech-heavy Nasdaq logging gains in their first week, building upon a stellar November after Donald Trump’s win in the
presidential election.
The president-elect’s potential policies on tax cuts and looser regulation in the incoming administration are expected to boost corporate performance.
Most megacap and growth stocks were slightly higher, though Google-parent Alphabet outperformed with an 4.2% advance.
Among other notable movers, Oracle dipped 6.8% after the cloud computing company missed Wall Street estimates for second-quarter results,
while software firm MongoDB slipped 8.3% despite raising its forecast for annual results.
Micron Technology gained 2.4%. The U.S. Department of Commerce finalized a subsidy of more
than $6.1 billion for the memory chip maker.
Alaska Airlines jumped 11.4% as the carrier raised its fourth-quarter profit forecast, while Boeing added 1.7%
after Reuters reported the planemaker restarted production of its 737 MAX jets last week.
Pinterest slipped 1.7% as Piper Sandler downgraded its
rating on the image-sharing platform to «neutral» from «overweight», while eBay eased 3% after Jefferies
lowered the e-commerce firm’s rating to «underperform» from «hold».
