Ministro Prokurica: “Los proyectos mineros serán claves para impulsar la recuperación económica y social del país”
En el marco del mes de la minería, el ministro de la cartera, Baldo Prokurica, participó en el lanzamiento de las Ruedas de negocios virtuales organizadas por la Asociación de Industriales de Antofagasta (AIA), oportunidad en la que destacó la cartera de proyectos mineros de la región y el rol que jugará en la recuperación económica de Chile.
En este contexto, la autoridad sostuvo que este seminario es “una valiosa oportunidad para seguir demostrando lo importante que es nuestro sector, pero al mismo tiempo, es un gran esfuerzo que lleva adelante esta asociación gremial en una región que lidera en términos de inversión minera en el país” y añadió que “los proyectos mineros serán claves para impulsar la recuperación económica y social del país, especialmente, en la Región de Antofagasta para el período post pandemia”.
Además, destacó los proyectos de inversión como Desarrollo Distrito Centinela de Antofagasta Minerals, con una inversión de US$4.350 millones; Sulfuros Radomiro Tomic Fase II de Codelco con US$3.073 millones; Ampliación Salar del Carmen de SQM por US$180 millones; expansión de Spence de BHP por US$3.260 millones; y Planta La Negra Fase III de Albemarle por US$300 millones.
Por su parte, el presidente de la Asociación de Industriales de Antofagasta, Marko Razmilic, señaló que “como la principal región y comunidad minera del país, tenemos que liderar el proceso de reactivación económica y social priorizando la contratación de mano de obra local y la contratación de empresas proveedoras regionales”.
En tanto, el presidente de la Sociedad Nacional de Minería (Sonami), Diego Hernández, recalcó que “este esfuerzo que comparte la gran, mediana y pequeña minería ha permitido situar a Chile como líder mundial en minería, y así mejorar la calidad de vida de nuestros compatriotas, y hoy cuando nos vemos enfrentados a una crisis sanitaria sin precedentes, una vez más somos el pilar de la economía nacional y uno de los sectores que mantiene el país en marcha”.
