Formalizan a conductor por fatal atropello y quedará en prisión preventiva
La Fiscalía de Atacama formalizó la mañana de este viernes al conductor de un vehículo que protagonizó un grave accidente de tránsito que dejó como consecuencia el fallecimiento de un peatón en la ciudad de Copiapó.
La audiencia en que se comunicaron los cargos fue asumida por el fiscal adjunto de esta ciudad, Sebastián Coya González, quien argumentó que el imputado guiaba un vehículo de propiedad de un familiar por la avenida Circunvalación en dirección al poniente alrededor de las 22:30 horas sin contar con licencia de conducir, impactando a la víctima, Nelson Aracena Campos (73) quien cruzaba la mencionada arteria en un paso regulado y con la presencia de semáforos.
“Los antecedentes que forman parte de la carpeta investigativa de este caso dan cuenta que el imputado, quien no cuenta con licencia de conducir, atropelló a la víctima quien debido a la fuerza del impacto falleció en el mismo lugar. Luego de lo cual el detenido se dio a la fuga sin prestar la ayuda ante la gravedad del siniestro ni tampoco comunicó lo ocurrido a servicios de emergencia”, dijo el fiscal.
En la audiencia el fiscal Coya González presentó videos de cámaras de seguridad de las inmediaciones del lugar del atropello, material gráfico con el que argumentó que el imputado advirtió la presencia del peatón, ya que activó la bocina del vehículo previo al atropello.

Por estos hechos, la Fiscalía formalizó la investigación en contra del conductor por su participación consumada en los delitos de manejo bajo la influencia del alcohol con resultado de muerte y además el ilícito de darse a la fuga del lugar del accidente sin dar aviso a la autoridad ni equipos de salud, sin prestar ayuda a la víctima.
De esta manera, el Juez de turno decretó, a solicitud de la Fiscalía, la medida cautelar de prisión preventiva en la cárcel de Copiapó por involucrar el imputado un peligro para la seguridad de la sociedad.
