Cerca de US$2,5 millones por camión ahorra Codelco Salvador gracias a economía circular con empresas regionales

Cerca de US$2,5 millones por camión está ahorrando Codelco Salvador gracias a un programa de reacondicionamiento de vehículos de alto tonelaje Caex, en cuya economía circular participan activamente empresas locales y mano de obra regional.

La idea es desarrollar una minería más eficiente y con menores costos, para ello Codelco puso en práctica el programa de overhaul para camiones Caex, los cuales eran utilizados hace algunos años en faenas como Chuquicamata y Radomiro Tomic, para luego reutilizarlos.

En un gran trabajo logístico, estos gigantes mineros que alcanzan los 7 metros de altura, cruzan el desierto de Atacama hasta llegar a la maestranza de Comercial San Ignacio, ubicada en el barrio industrial de Paipote en Copiapó. «Es histórico en la región de Atacama, el hecho de que una empresa llegue a generar este tipo de trabajos, como lo es el reacondicionamiento de estos camiones de tanta envergadura», señala Andrés Altamirano, propietario de la empresa.

Una vez llegado a la maestranza, los camiones son desmontados y se desarman cada una de sus piezas, para luego, reparar alguna estructura dañada e incorporar moderna tecnología.

Mauricio Suárez es asesor técnico de camiones en Comercial San Ignacio y señala que “es un orgullo ver cómo llega el equipo, desarmado completo y de a poco se comienza a armar. Es un camino bien largo, pero al final ver el producto que da mucha alegría y satisfacción».

Christian Toutin, gerente general de Codelco Salvador dice que “con el proyecto Rajo Inca estamos apostando por una nueva minería, más moderna, sustentable y con costos más bajos, por eso nos llena de orgullo generar esta economía circular que se inicia en nuestras divisiones del norte, para luego utilizar inteligencia y mano de obra de Atacama, para tener estos camiones que serán utilizados en nuestras futuras operaciones”.

Una vez realizado el reacondicionamiento, los camiones se ensamblan nuevamente, toman su nuevo color anaranjado y parten rumbo a la precordillera hasta llegar al mineral de El Salvador, en donde comenzarán su nueva vida útil.
